What is AD Fibre?

🌿 What is AD Fibre and Where Does it Come From?

At Wildmore Compost, we believe in giving back to the land. So it only makes sense that we use ingredients that come full circle. One of our key materials is AD fibre, a nutrient-rich by-product from a process called anaerobic digestion.

In simple terms, anaerobic digestion is nature’s way of recycling. Organic materials like food waste and crops are broken down in a sealed environment, producing green energy and leaving behind a fibrous material packed with goodness for the soil. That’s AD fibre.

Rather than letting it go to waste, we put it to work, returning it to the land as part of our high-quality, peat-free compost.

We have an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Plant right here on our Lincolnshire farm, so this is the most local material you could possibly source. Our AD Plant alone provides clean energy to over 1,800 homes and runs entirely on Maize, Grass and waste vegetables. Our AD Fibre is certified by Aardvark to ensure that it is only the highest quality fibre made by an Anaerobic Digestion Plant that meets high standards.

AD Fibre is rocket fuel. It is packed full of essential nutrients, and a balanced profile of N:P:K. The nutrients are readily available for plants and make an excellent fertiliser.

When mixed with other organic materials, AD Fibre makes a great compost.

♻️ Why we use AD Fibre:

  • It keeps valuable organic material in the cycle and reduces landfill waste.

  • AD Fibre promotes microbial activity. It contains organic compounds that microorganisms love! Microorganisms play a vital role in soil health, and having plenty of microbial activity means that the microorganisms break down all of the organic goodness into nutrients for the plant to absorb.

  • It adds heaps of nutrients, improves structure & water retention, and feeds the microbial life that keeps your plants thriving.

  • Using AD fibre helps reduce reliance on peat and supports renewable energy production.

  • By providing a natural source of nutrients, AD Fibre reduces the need for synthetic fertilisers.
